The Archduke Brewery in Żywiec

Regardless of the stormy history of the region, beer has been made at the brewery without fail for 160 years. When visiting our Museum, guests can also see a modern, functioning brewery and discover how beer is made.

The brewery was built by Archduke Albrecht Friedrich on lands belonging to his estate. Dreaming of creating the perfect beer, the Habsburg duke created the Żywiec Brewing School, employing head brewers from Cieszyn, the Czech lands, and Austria. Thanks to the combination of their knowledge and courage, by the end of the 19th century not only light lagers, but also ports, bocks, and March beers were being produced.

ŻYWIEC BREWING SCHOOL

Over the decades, the plant expanded its production capacity. Today, it is the largest and most modern brewery in the Żywiec Group. Its head brewers carry on the philosophy of the Żywiec Brewing School and continually explore new types of beer

ŻYWIEC – IN ONE WORD BEER

The flagship brand of the brewery is Żywiec, brewed in six different varieties. Apart from the timeless classic lager and porter, bock and March beer, today’s brewers are continually developing new recipes, thanks to which Żywiec can now be enjoyed in variations such as Żywiec White, APA (American Pale Ale) Żywiec Wheat IPA, Żywiec Jasne Lekkie. Some of them are available in a non-alcoholic version.

TOUR WITH AUDIO GUIDE

The museum offers tours with an audioguide for those interested in visiting the facility individually. In these devices you can choose a guided tour of the museum in Polish, English, German, Czech and Ukrainian.
